Day 3: Ky Son Full Day

Morning

Before we depart for Ky Son village, a quiet hamlet perfect for a knees-up with the kids at approximately 08:00 in the morning, please be fully energized with breakfast at the hotel.

We begin our trip with a 1.5-hour drive. Afterward, take a little break and sample fresh green tea from the area at a homestay. Depending on the needs of your family, we provide two options for you to opt for a 6-kilometer short trip or a 12-kilometer long ride.

Option 1: Short ride

Explore the rural communities of Ky Son, Tam Son, Van Minh, and Cham on a bicycle.

Stop by several neighborhood households for tea and strike up a conversation about life and farming with the locals. If a kindergarten opens, we would stop by and visit it.

Alternatively, assist the farmers with the harvesting of rice, cassava, corn, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, and seedlings.

Option 2: Long ride

See further villages in Ky Son, such as Mong Phu Communal House, Tam Son, Van Minh, Cham farming settlements, Mia Pagoda, and Duong Lam ancient village.

After paying a stop at a nearby family that produces handmade candy, ride your bicycle down the Thang Thac village's ritual trails back to your accommodation.

After that, your family would take part in a cooking class at a homestay and have lunch.

Afternoon

It's time to engage with the rural inhabitants and try out some traditional medicine and local specialties.

Chat with the local families about cultures and traditional customs, or give yourself a hand massage with your fingers immersed in a fragrant lime bowl infused with native herbs.

Take pleasure in a foot soak made with ginger, salt, and the medicinal plants mugwort.

Have a taste of local products such as traditional desserts, maize, sweet potato, cassava, peanuts,...

Your free time is from about 15:00, when you can explore the homestay and go to the kindergarten or local market.

Bid farewell to Ky Son and return to Hanoi. Unwind at the hotel or go nighttime exploring in Hanoi.

Northern Vietnam stole our hearts with its breathtaking landscapes, from lush rice paddies to towering limestone karsts. Every corner seemed to hold a new adventure, and our kids were captivated by the rich culture and vibrant atmosphere.

The itinerary was well-paced, allowing us to immerse in the beauty of ancient Hanoi and the stunning Halong Bay. We had a chance to have a hand-ons experience in Bat Trang.

The accommodations were cozy and family-friendly, providing the perfect retreat after exciting days of exploration.

Lastly, I have to shout out to the guides. They had to be really familiar with family as guests, they were not only knowledgeable but also incredibly patient and fun, making every moment enjoyable ad comfortable for the whole family.

This trip was truly unforgettable, and we can't wait to return to explore more of the beauty that Northern Vietnam has to offer!

3 day Ha Long Bay experience

We organised with the brilliant Mia Nguyen at Best Rate Tours for a 3 day, 2 night tour with Orchid cruises on their nostalgia boat. Mia’s help and organisation was brilliant. Due to the typhoon we had to change plans but she was helpful, friendly and organised throughout. We genuinely could not have asked for more from her. The boat was clean, comfortable and with some absolutely brilliant staff. We are well, plenty of options and lots of food available. The trips we took from the boat were even better than expected. An amazing experience.
