Battambang Stop Over 3 days

Day 1: Siem Reap – Battambang

 

8:00 Pick up from hotel in Siem Reap to Battambang, the second largest city and the biggest rice producer in Cambodia.

 

Along the the way, visit Ek Phnom temple in the 11st century and the colonial style houses along the Sangke River, continue the way and visit the traditional Cambodian houses and the artisan factory of rice flaky cake. Check in hotel for some break. Lunch by your own account.

 

In the evening visit Phnom Sampov, and "Killing caves" Temple on a hill and every evening at dusk, from 17:30 to 17:50 with thousands of bats leave the cave in an endless stream.

 

Return to hotel and overnight in Battambang.

 

 

 

Day 2: Battambang - Full Day Tour

 

Morning: Local livelihoods cycling - half day

 

A tuk tuk will pick you up from a hotel and drop at the battambang bike office before 8:00; try out a bike fitted - ensure all the bikes work properly with a quick introduction about a guide and safety briefing.

 

Our cycling route will include many stops as followings:

 

Stop1: Rice Noodle, Stop 2:Bamboo Sticky Rice, Stop 3: Wat Samrong Knong (Buddhist pagoda), Stop 4: Fish Paste Market (formation), Stop 5: Rice Wine (local whisky), Stop 6: Dried Banana (banana chips), Stop 7: Rice Paper (spring roll), Stop 8: Crocodile Farm.

 

Return back to the Battambang Bike office around 12:00, and transfer you back to hotel for some break.

 

Afternoon, visit to Phnom Banon, the 11th century mountaintop Angkorian ruin of Phnom Banan is the best preserved of the Khmer temples around Battambang. As you approach you will see the distinctive five towers pointing skyward, like a smaller version of Angkor Wat. At the base of the mountain you are faced with a steep laterite staircase flanked by Nagas. After climbing the 350+ steps you are treated to a wonderfully peaceful setting. The temple was built by Udayadityavarman II, son of Suryavarman I.

 

Last try out for a ride on the Bamboo Train, a fun experience and also a great opportunity to see the sunset view at countryside. It’s like a childhood dream come true. Transfer back to hotel and overnight at Battambang.

 

 

 

Day 3: Battambang – Kampong Luong – Udong - Transfer to Phnom Penh

 

Morning, transfer to Phnom Penh city by private car. The distance is 291 km, which takes around 5 to 6 hours.

 

On the way, we will stop at Kampong Chhnang, the largest fishing port in Tonlé Sap, whose waters are among the most fishy in the world. Embark on traditional boats to discover the floating village of Kampong Loung, authentic because still little frequented by tourists. Then continue and discover the abandoned royal city of Udong (early 17th century) and enjoy the amazing countryside view from the top of the hill.

 

Continue the road to Phnom Penh, and upon arrival in Phnom Penh, directly transfer you to your hotel.

Day 1: Phnom Penh - Battambang

 

8:00  Pick up by our guide and driver for private overland transfer to Battambang Province (291 Km, approximate 5 hour’s drive).

 

On the way, we will stop and discover the abandoned royal city of Udong (early 17th century) and enjoy the amazing countryside view from the top of the hill. Continue the road to Kampong Chhnang, the largest fishing port in Tonlé Sap, whose waters are among the most fishy in the world. Embark on traditional boats to discover the floating village of Kampong Loung, authentic because still little frequented by tourists. Breakfast in a local restaurant. Departure for the village of Pursat, famous for its sculptors on stone. Continuation of the road to Battambang, charming provincial town then check in hotel.

Day 2: Battambang - Full Day Tour

 

This morning, start tour to visit the archeological Provincial Museum. Then, we drive along the picturesque river to Wat Sangker Slaket Pagoda, the former residence of the provincial Buddhist patriarch. Next, visit the village along the Sangke river, stop at village in countryside that produce the rice paper. We continue to visit the Temple of Ek Phnom which is an old ruin Angkor the 11th century built as a Hindu temple under Suryavarman I. The temple consists of prasats on a platform with some carvings in pretty good condition. Wat Ek Phnom, a modern pagoda, sits next to the ruins.
